Jack was born and raised in Eastern Iowa. After moving around several times, he ended up back in Iowa and came home to Grace. He has been the sexton since February 2014, and the secretary since January 2016. He's also involved in the choir, the fellowship committee, and our annual Christmas play.
In his spare time, Jack enjoys gardening and composting, hiking, tutoring, and writing novels and poetry.
Jack is a vegan, but we love him anyway.
Father Curt officially became the rector of Grace Church on November 1, 2009. He comes with over 40 years experience of ordained ministry, much of it spent in the Lutheran Church serving parishes in Boreham Wood, England; Potter and Gurley, Nebraska; Wilton, Iowa; and in administration in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His most recent assignment was St Thomas Episcopal Church in Sioux City, Iowa.
Father Curt has a son, Christian, three daughters: Elizabeth, Rebecca and Kathrine, and a son (by absorption) Drew.
Beyond his work of ministry Father Curt enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading spy and murder mysteries. If asked nicely he might even give you some hints for interior decorating.
The governing body of Grace Episcopal Church is a 6 member Vestry. The Officers of the Church consist of a Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Clerk and Treasurer, each of whom has specific duties as described in the Canons of the Diocese of Iowa and are elected annually. Two members of the Vestry are elected on a rotating basis each year to a three year term, at the Parish's annual Meeting held each January.
